As we are transitioning into a new season, the first phase of the dark season, we’ll experience the energy of a significant turning point.

As you may know, I recently hosted a five-day Reiki Retreat in San Diego…and we are all forever changed. It’s impossible to articulate the amount of love that filled our space and how transformative the entire experience was, specific to activation and expansion of heart intelligence.

For all of us, the heart is on the scales. Welcome the beauty and opportunity to create more harmony…it’s Libra season!

Relationships are our greatest teachers and Libra shines a spotlight on these lessons. If you are feeling the airs of romance and in love with life itself, Libra is cheering you on, urging you to dive into the mysteries of love and partnership. The key will be not to lose yourself in the array of butterflies. This sign is also about balance; be sure to pour lots of love into you, not just into other people!

Libra wants to please and interact in loving ways, but you will find yourself annoyed if you feel your generosity is not acknowledged. So, if you are excited about bringing a smile to someone’s face, be sure to check your motivation. If you are doing it to be kind, do it without expectation. If you are doing it for validation or recognition, you may be disappointed.

Being ruled by Venus, this sign is all about the beauty in life, specific to the arts and expressions of love. If you feel disconnected from what brings you joy, or if you are struggling in your relationships, Libra will ask you to look at the scales. What is working for you and where do you feel off balance? To come into a space of harmony, you have to first acknowledge where you stand. Decide what you’re ready to heal and release, then choose where you will place your attention. What you feed energy into is what you nurture and expand in your life. Gratitude for all you DO have will help tip the scales in your favor.

This month is also a good time to consider the expectations you have of your loved ones. If you expect that the world should show up and participate exactly as you do, you’re missing the lessons. We learn in grow in exchange, through our differences. Yes, your intentions may be great, but remember to honor each person for where they choose to stand on their own path. It’s not a personal attack if people do not need or want to do things your way.

Gift From Libra: May you seek peace and harmony in every aspect of your life, seeing the love and beauty in all things, while appreciating the gifts of exchange. May you build loving relationships that feed your mind, nurture your heart and help you to see the Divine reflected in all things your eye shall meet. May you find balance, knowing that the scales will always fall when you are not acknowledging the pinnacle of existence; love.

It feels good to feel needed, right? We all seek alignment with “purpose” and we feel a sense of gratitude when we are able to be of service, outside of ourselves. Well, thank your lucky stars and welcome the purity of Virgo. She is the one that will help you gather the details for a plan of purposeful action!

Ruled by Mercury, this energy isn’t about dilly-dallying; it is about communicating your vision and taking action to support what you said you plan to do! Virgo will hold your hands as you decide to plant your feet, deep, into the earth to nurture the growth of your aspirations. But a word of caution, don’t get too married to the details. Sometimes we have to allow room for change in order to achieve the best results.

Virgo is also known to hone in, making corrections where necessary. If there is something that isn’t working efficiently in your life, take a breath and remember that this energy is supporting you, every step of the way. Virgo is systematic and will encourage you to chart and graph, creating a clear map so you know exactly where there is a kink in the chain, what caused it and how to ensure it doesn’t happen again! The way Virgo sees it, if you are clear about the design; you can be clear about how to rebuild, working smarter as you forge ahead.

If there is something that you are struggling with this month, Virgo reminds you that you don’t have to figure it all out alone. Perhaps it would benefit you to find a mentor or instructor, helping you perfect your craft, or at the very least, helping you see the one aspect that you have not been able to see thus far.

Do you know what I love most about Reiki? It’s the community! Through this practice, we meet so many incredible people, hear amazing stories, and support each other through the principles of Reiki: love and compassion.

Summer is meant for flinging! No, not just as in a “summer fling”, but tossing aside anything that no longer nurtures our spirits. Half of the year has gone, and this is a time of reevaluation. Fortunately, the sign of Cancer invites us back into Mama Earth’s womb, swimming in the oceans of emotion and creation. What inhibits your flow and what inspires you?

This month is also about feeling at home. They say home is where the heart is, so consider what it would feel like to make yourself at home in your heart. How can you nurture yourself so deeply, acknowledging your own needs and wants, that you feel love radiating from every aspect of your being? Allow yourself to feel so good that it feels like home no matter where you are!

If emotions are stuck, try some movement, like yoga or dancing wildly in your living room. If your emotions are erratic, release with passion! Try journaling or some other form of artistic expression. This month is all about what moves you…what feeds your soul and nurtures the air of your existence.

And we can’t access the sign of Cancer without considering family connections. Regardless of what you may feel about your family, beyond hurt and disappointments, can you see how you are exactly where you are meant to be because of that foundation? And family is not always biological, sometimes they are chosen, but they are your family, nonetheless. The key, though, will be to acknowledge how your family connections have influenced who you are today. Give thanks for the exchanges that have made you stronger, the lessons that have supported your growth and the love that extends the reach of all other emotions and experiences.

Being ruled by the moon, Cancer also reminds us to honor the Divine Feminine, the Goddess in all living things. Remember that your abilities to feel and create are powerful! The key will be mindfulness of what you’re creating. What you feel and believe are the seeds of that which you are manifesting now. Are you creating from LOVE or hurt? Heal and forgive, then create, consciously, for the journey that awaits at your feet.

Cancerian Gift: May you feel brave and proud in the face of your emotions, bearing your heart and your soul for the moon to illuminate, reflecting back your inherent beauty. May you feel the love of divine mother; nurturing you with each breath you take, reminding you that home is always exactly where you exist. You need to do nothing more than acknowledge the LOVE that you are!

 Today is a special episode, as I sat down to have a discussion with one of my teachers, Frans Stiene. This feels less like an interview, and more like you getting to sit down with us for a private conversation between a teacher and student. I had the opportunity to ask Frans some of the questions I've had for years!

Frans has been a major influence on global research into the system of Reiki since the early 2000s. His practical understanding of the Japanese influences on the system have allowed students around the world to connect deeply with this practice.

Are you starting to reel it back in? Perhaps you are taking it easy, making sure you have solid footing before moving forward. Well, it’s nice to slow down sometimes and plan before acting. Taurus wants you to feel safe and comfortable in your process of…everything!

The earth aspect of Taurus keeps this energy grounded and practical, which may bring your attention towards finances and investment planning. And of course it would, Taurus loves nice things; all things beautiful, just remember that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and Taurus doesn’t like an empty wallet. Seek to satisfy your heart, not to compete with the Jones’. For all you know, the Jones’ may be struggling to keep up with themselves. Consider what makes sense for you before emptying your pockets.

The planetary influence, Venus, also entices you with beauty; whether it’s the arts, material things or the comforts of home, all roads will leave you hopelessly surrendering to the nurturing pizzazz of the bull. Now, what you can learn from this sign is that hard work, with your eye on the prize, results in reward. The key will be to determine what you want to work hard at and what you would like your reward to be. Again, consider what matters to YOU. Perhaps you want to nurture your relationship, your career…or your spirit. Taurus wants to spoil you with all of life’s riches: financial, mental, physical and spiritual.

Taurus also reminds you that holding a red cape doesn’t mean you’re in control, nor does it mean you will win the fight. If conflict should arise and you feel an urge to hold your ground, consider the source of your stubbornness. Are you acting from ego or standing firm in a space of love? It can be easy to confuse the two, but love knows that your POWER doesn’t come from your push, it comes from what you know/believe to be true. Be honest about your motivation and feelings when you refuse to budge.

Whether you’re full of joyous laughter, or pouting because no one wants to play by your rules, you are causing some form of ruckus. Hello Aries. This energy is full of child-like excitement, with the temperament of a child who is spoiled. Either way it goes, your feelings or intentions will not go unnoticed. If you find yourself making a lot of noise, this is a reminder that silence, too, is golden. We often get more out of observation and listening before inserting our objectives.

Being ruled by Mars only adds fuel to the fire, but the flames aren’t always meant to burn. This energy can be channeled to heighten your drive and determination. You may feel encouraged to take bold action, distinguishing yourself from the crowd. The key will be to recognize if you’re ramming forward with assertiveness or aggression. There is a difference: play nice and be mindful of your arrangement of words.

Aries is also up for any challenge. If you have a goal in mind, but there is an obstacle in view, this energy will support you in finding a solution. And if you have ever considered taking a role in leadership, allow this energy to teach you how it’s done! While Aries can be a lot to digest (it’s hard to swallow what you can’t catch), this sign knows how to lead with authority and will inspire greatness from all whom follow. The key word here is inspire: this can be done respectfully; not all who lead have done so through fear. Ask a Libra to explain how to catch more flies with honey…because Aries isn’t here for that.

If you have a tendency to be extreme, don’t let this energy take you over the edge. Aries doesn’t do anything with subtlety. It can be okay to jump, but be mindful of your landing, while considering what you may be jumping in to. Yes, Aries will take the time to do the research, but once they have decided, it’s all or nothing. Remember, there’s balance in all things.

Gift From Aries: May you be bold in your stance, impervious to ideals that are not aligned with your vision and purpose, moving blissfully past the grips of contentment. May you have the gall to believe in yourself, first and foremost, understanding that you must be the leader of your own destination and cause. May you laugh, uproariously, shaking and dismantling any obstruction of truth.
